How to Better Defend Unemployment Claims

If a fired employee makes an unemployment claim, should you contest it or forget about it?  Unemployment claims that are paid to former employees cause your business' unemployment tax rate to go up.  This should provide every business with the incentive to effectively manage and monitor unemployment claims.  Yet, the misconception that an employer will likely lose every claim along with the difficulty of navigating the special set of administrative rules governing the IDES' operations cause many employers to pay a much higher unemployment tax rate than necessary.  Rebecca Dobbs is an attorney with Smith Amundsen LLC and regularly assists employers with defending unemployment claims and effectively lowering their unemployment tax rate.  Greg Ramel is the First Deputy Legal Counsel for the IDES. They will provide insight for attendees as to how and why they can better defend unemployment claims and save their business thousands of dollars.
